I'm Ready, For School 2021!

School is back!

 School 2021 has started! I am a year six and my teachers this year are... Koka Rozie who used to be my teacher as a year four two years ago, and she also took Matua Beau's place from last year who will now be working as Herald the Giraffe at Life Education. Koka Ngaire has been here for four years now and taught my brother, Gavin for his last year as a year six too! She used to be a teacher at Ormond Primary School. Koka Pip, she went to Japan for a nice holiday to see what it was like. She has blond hair, a very kind smile, and is always willing to help. 

The Past Weeks 

Week 1 was a blast (I don't quite remember everything that happened), we did the Bingo that we did last year to find things out about other people. Our class also got into our Buzz Groups, and LOTS more. 

A few weeks ahead we started to "Walk Our Pepeha". First we walked down to Hamanatua* and had a little PBL, which stands for Play Based Learning, and lunch. 

Second, was Maungaroa. Fact: Did you know that Maungaroa in English means "Wide Mountain". The school went by Syndicates, so first was Moana. Since the big kids are all in that Syndicate, we walked down to Lloyd George Rd, and at the end of it is the Mountain. 

Then, the next week, we went to Te Poho O Rawiri Marae, our school Marae. The Kaia there said to call her Aunty Buba. She told us lots of stories about the chiefs and the tribes who somehow join their family. She also taught us a song, called Mama Panda, about how a Nanny makes bread .  

I can't wait until the next terms and how this upcoming year will go.

Quick Write: Tigers

Hello, Today I have written my Quick Write to show to you, down below you can read it.

Tigers

Tigers are one of the largest cats in the world. They are also found in a lot of places around the world. They are very strong and can live for a very long time for the average cat. Below are four paragraphs about an idea related to the Tiger.

Habitat

Tigers are found in a lot of interesting sections of different places around the world: Rainforests, Grasslands, Savannas, and even Mangrove Swamps. Unfortunately, 93% of historical tiger lands have disappeared primarily because of expanding human activity.
 

Facts

Tigers are the largest amongst other wild cats.
A punch from a Tiger may kill you. Tiger cubs are born blind and only half of the cubs survive. Tigers love to swim and play in the water. Tigers live for about 25 years.

Qualities/Strengths

Tigers are very camouflage with their orange and black stripes on the fur. It helps them blend in from predators and hunters or poachers. They are very big in fact, they are the largest cat out of the Big Cat Family.

Weaknesses

Tigers are Very strong, big, and proud of who they are. But, on the other hand they do have weaknesses. They have low stamina or endurance which means that if in battle they would stop and back away because of being tired. 

Tigers are very interesting animals and will always be that way. 
At least I hope they do.

3D Hand Art!

 Kia Ora and welcome to this week's blog post! The year 6's went off to camp on monday so all the year 5's had the classroom to themselves (Exept for our teacher, Matua Beau). First up, we moved he chairs and tables around how we wanted it for the week. After that, it was all priorities. The week was practically normal, with a few games and art thrown in. The art Matua Beau Chose was the 3D Hand Art! I love drawing so this was my opportunity to shine. But, it was not my day to be doing art. I was going through paper like picking up grain by grain of sand. I decided to just do it at home. I can not wait to write back to you guys next week on my blog.

🥕 Pihitia Station Visit 🥕

Pihitia Station

Run little lamb, run! On Tuesday this week Wainui Beach School went to the Pihitia Station Farm. There were tons of different activities that we were able to see. Below I will write about each activity we got to watch. Don't forget that some of the paragraphs you read might be, we could say, "interesting".

Milking The Cow

Tristin's Dad, who owned the farm split us into groups so it wasn't a big clump of crazy kids! The first activity we went to was the cow. Sophie was helping at the farm so she milked the cow and talked about the everyday products we eat at home. Everyone got a turn shaking the jar of cream to make some butter. It was very "interesting".

Cutting The Meat

I found this activity not very fun or something I liked. We watched a butcher cut up an eight month old lamb! We got told about all the meats and takeaways that we like to eat. Anyone was welcome to not watch this, and I felt really sad for the vegetarians at the school.

Mechanical Parts On The Farm

Next, we walked over to the Tractors, Motorbikes, and Trucks. Then Zoe's dad told us about the mechanical things in the Trucks and mobiles. We each got a turn going on or in one of the Cars or the Tractor. One person asked if there were keys so he could drive it!

Herding The Sheep

Hello fluffy sheep! Later, we went to watch Zoe's Mom talk to us about they herd the sheep on a farm. Her sheep dogs (I call them woof woof dog, and stare stare dog) showed us how they do their job. The big one ran across the paddock chasing the sheep, then the little dog came and the big doggy barked at the herd. Now, the little one gave the herd "The Stare". It was soooo funny and cute.

The Drone

Another assistant came and flew the drone around the farm and explained about a device when you push it when you are hurt, it will send a signal to Wellington and a helicopter will come and rescue you. There was a TV and on the screen was what the drone is looking at. I was in front of the screen and I could see myself on the TV.

Conservation

We listened to bird sounds and tried to guess what they were. We also looked at different types of pest traps and for what animal they were for. My friend was looking at a cat skull and I LOVE cats so I was covering my face with my hat so I didn't have to look at it.

It's Kahoot Time!

Kahoot!

Aloha and welcome to my Term 3 Week 5 Blog Post! Today I will be writing about What Moana Learning Hub did last Friday. About a week ago I started making a Kahoot. A Kahoot is a sort of game where there are quiz questions and true or false questions, and you can add a photo for each question. I did my Kahoot where there would be a photo of each person in MLH as a baby. The question on each Part would be “Who Is This?”. 

It was really Funny to see all the little students from Moana Learning Hub! We had a few laughs when we saw a photo of one of the teachers as well! I’m so happy that everyone enjoyed the Kahoot. Down below I will show some of the photos of them.

Luna Is Back!

 A few months ago we had a lost kitty, Luna. The last day before lockdown, we got new kittens (I wrote another blog about getting them)! We re - named them Skye and Luna. 

We have been trying to not let them outside at night. But, My mom went to pick me up, and she stayed outside. 4:00pm, still outside. 6:00pm, still outside. 8:00am, still outside. It had been three days since we had seen her. She had posted on facebook about Luna. One day my mother went shopping at countdown, and she got a notification from facebook. It was a man and he said that he might have our Kitten! She texted back saying she’ll be back in half an hour. 

She drove home and said where he lived. And… He was our neighbour! She drove home and walked over. They chatted for a little while, then she brung her back home.

I am so happy that Luna is back, and I think Skye is as happy as me.

New House Part 1

New House Part 1:

Yay! At the beginning of February, we started building our new dream house up at Gaddums Hill, Gisborne! I was so excited when I heard the good news. Right now, there is about 3 more months until we move in, and I wish we could move in straight away. Week 1:

Concrete was being poured, hole dug, foundation drying. Week 2: Wall framing goes up, stabilizing wood up, wall in place :D. Week 3: Break! Week 4: Order windows, paint. Week 5: Roof on! Week 6: Walls up outside, windows in. Week 7: Painting. Week 8: Plumbing, Water Tanks. Week 9: NOW

I can’t wait until the day comes when we move in. Today is Wednesday and we have been looking at some sinks, toilets and vanity. Thank you for reading part one of My New House!
