Turanganui Cultural Festival

Kapa Haka Ngahau
My patterned kaka ( swayed as I carefully walked up the wobbly stairs.
Everyone cheered gracefully when Nui  got into their places. "Tu Mai Ra... " Hunter sang as my legs slightly shaked.  Utaina was my favorite song in the kapa haka bracket. Ka pioioi e tohu aroha haukainga. Kiss, i aue hi!  Puri anei was the next song. That was when we got our poi out. The first and second rows went down on their knees in the first line.

Walking Off The Atamira
As we walked off the stage, I felt very proud of doing the festival. It was the first time
i'd ever performed on that stage. It was very fun. I knew when I walked off the stage I  know I would want to do it again.

Seeing Whanau
When we came outside and my Mom and Dad were there. I gave them a big hug and my Mom said, " You did so well Kale'a!" I almost started crying because of how proud I was. I was so happy that I took the choice to do it. After, we went on the bus back to and had a good rest of the day.

Leighton House SVA Project

Leighton House Rest Home: Student Volunteer Army Project
We got our luggage and zoomed off to the rest home. I was in Natalie's car group she was my  friend Rio's Mom.  As Natalie slowly parked into a parking lot,  I pushed the seat belt button and rushed over to Koka Rozie. We talked about how we should be behaving in the rest home, then we walked into the door and one of the people from the staff talked about us coming over and then we walked into the lounge. Koka Rozie wanted to say something about me but it was too late.

Map Of  Where Leighton house Is.

I was buddies with Kobe but he ditched me so I went to Alice and then we kept walking around with each other  so I guess we were buddies. We went over to this woman. She loved music, especially maori music. We found that out after we played When I'm Gone to her. She asked if she could borrow one of the Ukuleles, I gave mine to her and  she played some. I was really surprised how well she could play it.

On a nearby  table, there were some cookies, marshmallows and some Raro. I took a cookie, a cup-full of Raro and a marshmallow. Yummy, yummy, yummy! By the table was a man named Noel Parkinston. He turned 90 the day before we came. We sang happy birthday to him and he was very happy.

It was very fun  at the Leighton House Rest Home.
I hope we can come again.
